Photographer: Bruno Reiffenstein (1868-1951) and unknown. Austrian soldiers engaged in various activities. 1916. 8 vintage bromoil and gum bichromate prints. Various sizes 21 x 25 cm and smaller. 1 signed by the photographer in ink in lower right corner, all but 1 mounted to board.

Bruno Reiffenstein was originally an architectural photographer. During WWI he worked for the Austrian Kriegspressequartier and produced these impressive images of Austrian soldiers during WWI. – In very good condition.

This lot comprises a range of World War I scenes, depicting soldiers setting up their equipment, engaging in combat, generals strategizing maneuvers, and views from a field post office distributing mail to the troops. – Slight traces of use, oxidation mirroring in edges, otherwise in good condition.

This collection of press photos shows the industrial production of large cannons, rifles and ammunition as well as grenade turning and production of cartridge cases, etc. – Edges curled, some mirroring in edges, otherwise in good condition.

Documentation album of a German officer of the "Kriegsmarketenderei". Circa 1915-17. Circa 44 vintage gelatin silver prints. Various sizes, most 12 x 16 cm and smaller. Mounted to album pages (some wear), each with caption label below the image on the mount, bound in contemporary paper album (slight wear) with printed title Die Kriegsmarketenderei der 2. Armee 1915-1917.

The theme of this album is the so-called "Kriegsmarketenderei", i.e. the food and material supply of the troops in World War I. The photographs show large confiscated buildings in Belgium and northern France filled with civilian necessities for the soldiers. The stores and warehouses contain food and luxury goods of all kinds, such as wine and spirits, canned food, tobacco products, textiles and uniforms, tools and photographic equipment for the front photographers etc. – Most photos with silver mirroring in edges, otherwise in good to very good condition.

Souvenir album of a high-ranking German officer during WWI. Circa 1915. Circa 34 vintage gelatin silver prints. Various sizes, most 12 x 17 cm and smaller. Inserted in album window mats, bound in contemporary cloth album.
An unusual album most likely documenting a propaganda trip of the German Kaiser and Field Marshal Hindenburg through various German cities after the so-called Battle of Tannenberg. The images show the entusiastic welcoming of Hindenburg by crowds during official events such as visiting old war veterans from 1870/71 and a military hospital for war injured. The popularity of Hindenurg in the Weimar Republic was greatly promoted by this event. – Some with fading in edges, some with light oxidation mirroring, a few with creases, small tears, otherwise most photos in good condition.

A rare military document from WWI. The first pages have an instruction text of how this panorama corresponds to aerial photos of the same area for the exact identification of every position at the enemy lines. – Some oxidation mirroring in edges, some scuff marks/ surface rubbing, otherwise in very good condition.
